Bajondillo con Maria y Anna, Paper Fine Art Print, 10 x 13.5in

Capture a deeply atmospheric, intimate glimpse of historic European street life with this incredible Freddy Caston watercolor and ink paper print. Painted in 1973, this masterwork perfectly highlights Caston’s ability to manipulate heavy shadows and bright sunlight, creating a scene filled with mystery, community, and quiet observation.

The composition looks down a historic, textured cobblestone alleyway bathed in a warm, sepia-toned light. Caston brilliantly frames the piece using deep, silhouetted foliage overhead and heavy, dark shadows along the right wall, where two figures stand closely wrapped in traditional cloaks. Down the street, the village comes alive with soft, ink-washed figures walking under the sun, while others rest on benches along the historic plaster walls, perfectly evoking the slow, thoughtful pace of mid-century village life.
